A few days prior to the ceremony, a man in Amasaman addressed the head priest with the intention of killing his brother-in-law, stepson, and wife for their property.
He was unaware that Nana Akorli, the priest, detested violence and worked with the police to capture the culprit. The episode, which took place in an Amasaman area, stunned a lot of people.
A man in his late 40s came to Nana Akorli with the intention of “killing” his brother-in-law, stepson, and wife in order to take their belongings. The stepson, who was living in Canada, was making improvements in his life and providing for his family in Ghana, so he too became a target.
Rather than complying with Nana Akorli’s request, she pretended to consent and started “killing rituals.” He informed the suspect’s brother-in-law, a priest buddy, about the nefarious scheme.
In order to arrange for the suspect to be arrested during the “ritual,” Nana Akorli spoke with the suspect’s wife to confirm his plans.
The suspect was wearing ritual clothing and was holding a knife when police, alerted by Nana Akorli, arrested him at the temple on the appointed day.
The main priest disclosed that he aids individuals at his shrine rather than killing or spilling blood. “Me, Nana Akorli, I save the lives of people, I do not kill people here,” Nana Akorli stated, highlighting his dedication to saving lives.
The man was being taken through initiation procedures by the top priest, who had arranged for his detention. This continued until the police arrived and the suspect was seen carrying a knife with a red cloth tied around it.
The suspect was clothed in red and white for the procedures the chief priest would take him through, and he was seated on a traditional stool outside when the cops arrived.
When police CID officers who were tasked with apprehending the suspect at the shrine in Amasama questioned him about his motivations, he was unable to defend his conduct and stayed silent.
