British-Ghanaian boxer Joshua Buatsi is gearing up for a significant match against Nigerian-British opponent Dan Azeez at the OVO Arena in London.
Buatsi, the undefeated WBA light-heavyweight champion, will face Azeez on Sunday, February 3, following the postponement of a WBA world title eliminator scheduled for October last year.
Despite their friendship, both boxers, ranked among the top five worldwide, are focused on achieving greatness in the ring at the OVO Arena.
During a face-off at Wembley Arena on Tuesday, January 30, Buatsi expressed his determination, stating, “These are the nights I dreamt of.” He emphasized the importance of defeating his friend-turned-opponent Azeez to maintain his path towards a world title shot.
Buatsi boasts an impressive record of 17 wins with no losses or draws in his professional career, including 13 victories by knockout, showcasing a knockout ratio of 76.5%.
On the other hand, 34-year-old Nigerian-British boxer Dan Azeez has also achieved a commendable record of 20 wins with no losses, establishing himself as a formidable opponent in the ring.
As Buatsi mentally prepares for this significant challenge, both boxers understand the gravity of the situation and are ready to set aside their friendship for the bout at the OVO Arena, with the promise of a world title shot awaiting the victor.
In addition to the sporting spectacle, Buatsi, an Olympic Bronze Medalist and Nike Athlete, plans to honor his Ghanaian heritage with a custom kit and music produced by one of Ghana’s prominent music producers during his ring walk at the OVO Arena in London.
