Late last week, charges were brought against suspects in the murder of Mr. Eric Johnson, the CEO of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, also referred to as “Jirapa Dubai,” in the Jirapa District of the Upper West Region.

The Cossy Hill Hotel employees Dookuuri Fausta, Braimah Kasim, Beyuo Felix, Michael Klugey, Charles Tuoze, Kumbata Kwaku, and Favour Nuobe have all been charged provisionally with conspiracy to commit a crime with the intent to murder.

After the prosecution begged for more time to look into the case, the Wa District Court, presided over by Justice Maxwell Maxibrian Titriku, remanded them into prison detention.

The suspects’ pleas were not taken; they are scheduled to appear in court in two weeks.

Recall that on February 11, 2024, the businessman was fatally stabbed at home by unidentified intruders. He was discovered the next morning in a pool of blood, per a police situational report.

Although the reason for the act is unknown at this time, authorities believe that the suspects are important witnesses who may provide information that would help them piece together the events leading up to the murder because there are rumors that the closed-circuit television (CCTV) was also broken.

Last Monday, Cletus Seidu Dapilah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jirapa, revealed that an anonymous businessman has donated 100,000 Ghanaian Cedis in order to ensure that the criminals are caught.

“That money is being provided by a friend of mine, and I will gather it and give it to whoever can help us by providing reliable information that results in the arrest of the offenders. He begged the public, saying, “People should attempt to provide information and proof to the police and law enforcement agencies since it is 100,000 Ghana Cedis from a businessman who is a friend.
